On October 15, 2024, the Master of Information Systems program held a Master’s (S2) Information Systems Curriculum Workshop with Prof. Zainal Abidin Hasibuan, PhD., the Chair of the LAM INFOKOM Accreditation Board, as the keynote speaker.
Also present were the Director of Quality Assurance (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Kurnia Rahayu, S.E. M.Ak., Ak, CA), the Head of the Curriculum Division (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sri Dewi Anggadini, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA), Master of Information Systems lecturers, and stakeholders representing graduate users, alumni, and international and executive students from the Master of Information Systems program.
The discussion focused on the fundamentals of computer science curriculum development, namely the ACM and Computing Curricula. According to Prof. Ucok, as Prof. Zainal A. Hasiabuan, PhD. is fondly called, the Master of Information Systems program should consider the latest 2024 occupational map for S2 Information Systems graduates to determine their typical job roles and the competencies that need to be emphasized. He also stated that the UNIKOM Master of Information Systems curriculum, which he had reviewed for a week, is a professional program, thus requiring lecturers to be equipped with experience in information systems projects and certifications to enhance their professional experience, which can then be incorporated into course materials.
Meanwhile, an international student from the Republic of Congo, Mumbere Kayange, suggested that some practical skills should also be taught in lectures without compromising the academic level of the Master’s program. Another S2 student, Hengky, who works as a Data Architect, stated that the Master of Information Systems curriculum aligns with his career and agreed with the speaker on linking the course content with various projects.
