

Bandung, UNIKOM – The Doctoral Program in Management (DIM) at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) demonstrated its role in academic development and social contribution through its International Community Service and Social Responsibility event. Held at the STIE BII Campus in Bekasi Regency, the event adopted the theme “Implementing IT-Based Management Science in Improving the Performance of MSME” and featured various academic experts and practitioners from both Indonesia and abroad.
Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Yani Syafei, M.T., CSBA., Head of UNIKOM’s Doctoral Program in Management, served as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he emphasized that the implementation of technology-based management science is crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). According to him, leveraging technology in management can accelerate data-driven decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive sustainable business growth. This aligns with UNIKOM’s mission to foster academic innovation directly applicable to the industrial world.
The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., Dean of UNIKOM’s Postgraduate School, and Geraldi Catur Pamuji, S.Kom., M.Kom., a permanent lecturer at UNIKOM’s Postgraduate School. Both offered academic perspectives during discussions on integrating technology into the business world. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities and business actors in developing digital-oriented business strategies. She believes the academic world must be an active partner for the business sector in implementing relevant innovations. Geraldi Catur Pamuji added that digitalization extends beyond merely implementing technology systems; it also encompasses deeper data analysis to understand market patterns and customer needs.
In addition to representatives from UNIKOM, the event also featured an international speaker, Abdisamad Abdirahman Omar, Ph.D., Director of the African Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies (AIMS) in Somalia, a lecturer at the University of Hargeisa, Somalia, and a researcher at Ankara Haci Bayeam Veri University, Turkey. During the discussion session, Abdisamad shared his experiences regarding the implementation of IT-based management systems in various developing countries, including the challenges and opportunities faced by MSMEs in adopting digital technology. He emphasized that enhancing data-driven managerial capacity would help MSMEs achieve more sustainable growth and compete in the global market.
Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Yani Syafei expressed hope that UNIKOM’s Doctoral Program in Management will continue to be a center of excellence in technology-based academic development, while also promoting the application of innovation in the business world. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty added that cross-institutional and international cooperation must be continually strengthened so that academic research results can benefit the wider community. Meanwhile, Geraldi Catur Pamuji hopes that more MSMEs will recognize the importance of digital transformation as a key to business growth in the modern era. Abdisamad Abdirahman Omar also affirmed that synergy among various parties, including academics, business actors, and government, is the main key to accelerating technology adoption in the MSME sector.
UNIKOM’s active participation in this event underscores its commitment to fostering the development of technology-based management science and making real contributions to economic and business advancement, particularly for MSMEs.
