


BANDUNG, UNIKOM – Saturday, February 15, 2025. The African Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies (AIMS), in coordination with the Association of Somali Students in Ankara and the Foundation for Solidarity with International Muslim Communities (MÜSDAV), Turkey, organized an international human resource training initiative. This initiative, in collaboration with the UNIKOM Postgraduate Faculty, was themed: “Collaboration on International HRM Training and Certification Issuance: International Seminar on Human Resource Management Onsite Edition: Ankara, Turkey at Müsdav Genç Toplantı Salonu, on African Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies – AIMS.”
The training took place over four days (February 15-16 and February 22-23, 2025) at the Müsdav Genç Toplantı Salonu, located at Üniversiteler, Dumlupınar Blv. No: 153, 06800 Çankaya/Ankara, Turkey. The UNIKOM Postgraduate Faculty was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wadiniwaty, Dra., M.Si. (Dean of the Postgraduate Faculty) and Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Yani Syafei, M.T., CSBA (Head of the Doctoral Program in Management Science at the Postgraduate Faculty), who were invited to deliver opening remarks and keynote speeches online. Geraldi Catur Pamuji, S.Kom., M.Kom was also present as a Supporting Unit for the UNIKOM Postgraduate Faculty. The event was attended by 30 Somali students currently studying at Ankara University, Turkey.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Yani Syafei, MT, CSB. emphasized that human resources are the backbone of any successful organization. The ability to manage human resources is a critical determinant of an organization’s sustainability, growth, and competitiveness. He stated that the international seminar was carefully designed as a platform for knowledge sharing, discussion, and collaboration, equipping participants with the strategic principles and tools necessary for effective HRM. The seminar offered practical strategies and techniques to enhance essential HR functions through case-based studies and applications. Participants would gain valuable skills in workforce planning, competency mapping, talent acquisition, employee learning and development, performance management, compensation strategies, HR organization, and fostering a positive organizational culture.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahma Wahdiniwaty, Dra., M.Si., in her speech, highlighted that the international seminar serves as a vital forum for academics and practitioners to engage in critical discussion, share innovative insights, and explore emerging trends in human resource management. She noted that as the world navigates digital transformation, artificial intelligence, remote work, and globalization, the role of HR management has never been more crucial. Human resources remain at the core of every organization’s success, and effective HR strategies can drive employee satisfaction and organizational performance. She added that the seminar provided participants with the opportunity to interact with leaders, industry experts, and researchers who would share their perspectives on key HR topics such as talent management, leadership, workforce diversity, digital HR, and organizational development.
The training was led by Abdisamad Abdirahman Omar, PhD., an entrepreneur, business analyst, and academician with 10 years of experience in higher education and administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Management and Organization from Ankara HBV University, two master’s degrees in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (KALU Institute) and International Trade and Logistics (Akdeniz University), and a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from Somalia University. Additionally, he is the Director of the African Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies (AIMS). The four-day training, held on February 15-16 and 22-23, featured three-hour sessions each day covering materials including: 1) Job Analysis and Design, 2) Competency Mapping and Talent Acquisition, 3) Learning and Development, 4) Compensation and Benefits, 5) Performance Management, and 6) HRM Operations.
